White Rose Classic Distance Races

The mainstay of the weekend will be the two Classic Distance Races on Saturday and Sunday.

Thirteen courses will be planned to provide orienteering at levels to meet all possible requirements.  The course structure will be based around 2012 age classes; however competitors can run any courses they wish.

Start times will be pre-allocated and prizes will be awarded to the aggregate result over the two days of first three finishers in each age class.

Both races will be separate British Orienteering ranking events, however to be eligible for a White Rose prize, the following additional requirements will apply:

1.  If you decide to run out of class, you will be eligible for a prize in the class you enter, provided that you are clearly “running up” (i.e. a more challenging class than that designated for your age group).

If there is any possible ambiguity about which class you are running (bearing in mind that some courses cover up to 10 classes) it is the competitor’s responsibility to ensure that the organiser is aware of your intended class before your Saturday start.  Your actual 2012 age class should then be shown in brackets after your name in start lists and results.

2.  Your start times should be “balanced” across the two days.  In other words, if you have an early start on one day, then you should have a late start on the other – and vice versa.  If you adhere to your pre-allotted start times, you will be competitive.  We will setting start times as follows:

VERY EARLY – from 10.00 to 11.22  (before 10.30 is mainly for helpers)

EARLY – from 11.23 to 12.15

LATE – from 12.16 to 13.07

VERY LATE – from 13.08 to 14.00

3.  The classes and courses recommended for each will be based on British       Orienteering guidelines for a level B medium sized event.  This provides for competitive classes for all age groups with the option of short/B classes for most. Additionally courses are available for adult novices – M/W21N.  There are two changes from BOF guidelines – we do not provide separate classes for M/W85. However we do provide a W75S class.
