The North Yorks Moors are a walker’s paradise, and numerous walks are available close to White Rose 2012. Here are a few ideas that won’t compromise your competitive status at White Rose 2012 if you have a few days walking before the event weekend.
COAST & CLIFF
The Cleveland Way National Trail follows the Yorkshire cliff edge from Saltburn to Filey – over 80km of fantastic sea and cliff scenery yet offering very easy walking.

The trail passes within 10km of White Rose 2012, and following it north from Scarborough to Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby provides a full yet interesting day’s walk.
The cliff walks around Scarborough offer great easy walks with lovely sea views. It is 19km on the Cleveland Way from Scarborough to Filey if you enjoy passing huge carav an parks.
FOREST
Alongside Wykeham Forest are the other huge areas of forest that together make up the

North Riding Forest Park. regular White Rosers will be familiar with Pickering, Dalby, Cropton, Langdale and many smaller forests.
Virtually all of these forests are open access land with convenient parking and waymarked routes – not that anyone at Whte Rose would need waymarks!
MOORLAND
Head west to Thornton Dale, then north towards Whitby to Saltergate for some of the best moorland walking in the National Park. Loads of walks for the large national park car park on Levisham Rigg, Bridestones, Newtondale and Hole of Horcum.
